Ravel Ryan Morrison (born 2 February 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for UAE Second Division League club Precision FC. Born in Wythenshawe, Manchester, England, Morrison was once regarded as one of Manchester United’s most promising talents. Despite his early potential, his career has been marked by numerous transfers and off-field challenges.
Club Career
- Manchester United (2010–2012): Morrison began his professional career with Manchester United, making his first-team debut in 2010. Despite high expectations, he struggled to secure a regular spot, leading to his transfer.
- West Ham United (2012–2015): In January 2012, Morrison signed with West Ham United. During his tenure, he had loan spells with Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers (QPR), and Cardiff City. Notably, he contributed to QPR’s promotion by playing in the 2014 Football League Championship play-off final.
- Lazio (2015–2019): Morrison moved to Italian club Lazio in July 2015. However, he found first-team opportunities limited and was loaned to QPR and Mexican side Atlas during this period.
- Subsequent Moves: Following his stint with Lazio, Morrison’s career included brief periods with Östersund (Sweden), Sheffield United, Middlesbrough (loan), ADO Den Haag (Netherlands), Derby County, and D.C. United (USA). In 2024, after an 18-month free agency, he joined Precision FC in the UAE Second Division League, marking the 14th club of his career. citeturn0search9turn0news11
International Career
Eligible to represent both England and Jamaica, Morrison played for England at various youth levels, including under-16, under-17, under-18, and under-21. In November 2020, he made his senior debut for the Jamaica national team in a friendly against Saudi Arabia. He scored his first international goal for Jamaica during a World Cup qualifying match against Honduras on 30 March 2022.
Playing Style and Reception
Morrison has been lauded for his exceptional talent and technical skills. Former teammates and coaches have often highlighted his natural ability, with some comparing his potential to top footballers. Despite this, off-field issues and disciplinary challenges have hindered his ability to consistently perform at the highest level.
Recent Developments
In December 2023, Morrison faced legal issues when he was convicted of fraud for using a deceased person’s disabled parking permit in Manchester. He was fined and ordered to pay associated costs.
As of February 2025, Morrison continues to play for Precision FC in the UAE, aiming to make a significant impact and perhaps revitalize his professional career.
