
Concacaf Announces Details for 2025 Gold Cup Draw
Miami, FL – Concacaf has confirmed that the official draw for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup will take place on Thursday, April 10, at 7:00 pm ET. The live, made-for-TV event will reveal the groups for the 18th edition of the prestigious tournament.
The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup will be held this summer, from June 14 to July 6, across 14 stadiums in 11 metropolitan areas in the United States and Canada. The competition will feature 16 men’s national teams, including 15 from Concacaf and Saudi Arabia as the guest nation. The final will take place on July 6 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, marking the first time the Gold Cup Final will be held in Texas.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup offers a chance for the region’s top teams to compete at a critical moment for the sport’s growth in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Qualification for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup
Eight national teams have already secured qualification for the Gold Cup Group Stage through the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League, with the remaining seven teams set to be determined after the 2025 Gold Cup Preliminary Round (Prelims). The qualified teams are Canada, Curaçao, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and the United States.
The Gold Cup Prelims feature 14 men’s national teams, who will compete in seven matchups. The winner of each matchup, determined by home-and-away games on March 21 and 25, will advance to the Group Stage.
2025 Gold Cup Draw: Pots and Pre-seeded Teams
The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup Draw will be conducted using a double-blind system with eight pots. Pots 1-4 will contain the names of the participating teams, while Pots 5-8 will contain the four group positions (A, B, C, D). Based on the Concacaf Men’s National Team Rankings as of March 26, 2025, after the Prelims, the 15 Concacaf national teams will be divided into the four pots.
- Pot 1 will include the current champions, Mexico, and the three highest-ranked teams.
- Pot 2 will contain the four next highest-ranked teams.
- Pot 3 will hold the four subsequent teams, ranked by their performance.
- Pot 4 will feature the three lowest-ranked teams, along with Saudi Arabia, the guest nation.
Additionally, Pot 5-8 will determine the group positions for the tournament, with teams from Pot 1 pre-seeded into the following groups:
- Group A: Mexico (current champions)
- Group B: Highest-ranked team
- Group C: Second highest-ranked team
- Group D: Third highest-ranked team
Gold Cup Draw Process
The draw will first assign the pre-seeded teams (Pot 1) into their designated groups (Pot 5). After that, teams from Pot 2 will be drawn and placed into one of the groups from Pot 6, followed by teams from Pot 3 and Pot 4, filling the groups with the spheres from Pots 7 and 8, respectively.
Competition Format and Dates
The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup will kick off with the 16-team Group Stage from June 14-24, with four groups of four teams each. After the round-robin play, the top two teams from each group (eight teams in total) will progress to the Knockout Stage.
