Jamaica’s head coach Steve McClaren reflects on a year of growth and challenges as the Reggae Boyz prepare for a crucial 2025. In 2024, the team showed progress, despite some setbacks, with key wins and the emergence of younger talent like Shaniel Thomas and Jalmaro Calvin.
“2024 was a year of learning and development. We had some tough losses, but we also saw real progress, especially with our young players stepping up,” McClaren stated. “Looking ahead, 2025 is vital for us. Our main goal is World Cup qualification, and we’ll continue to build on what we’ve learned.”
McClaren emphasized the importance of refining team tactics and incorporating fresh talent, noting that the blend of experienced players and new blood will be crucial for success.
“We’ll focus on consistency and developing a more fluid playing style. Our young players will play a key role in that,” he added.
As 2025 approaches, the Reggae Boyz are determined to push forward with their World Cup ambitions, aiming for continued growth and a strong showing on the international stage.
