Schoolboy Football

Few things capture Jamaica like schoolboy football. Run by ISSA (the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association), it rivals the professional league for passion — and it's where countless Reggae Boyz first made their name.

Manning Cup

The under-19 competition for high schools in Kingston, St Andrew and parts of St Catherine (the "corporate area"). One of the most watched sporting events in Jamaica.

daCosta Cup

The rural-area equivalent, contested by schools across the other parishes. Every bit as fierce and well-supported as the Manning Cup.

Olivier Shield

The grand finale: the Manning Cup and daCosta Cup champions meet home-and-away to decide the overall national schoolboy champion. The last trophy decided each season.

A national institution

Alongside the daCosta Cup, the Manning Cup is one of the most watched football events in Jamaica, rivalling the country's top professional league for popularity. For young players it's a launchpad — into local and overseas club careers, and onto the radar of national-team selectors.

The Olivier Shield

The Olivier Shield is the season's ultimate prize, contested home-and-away by the Manning Cup and daCosta Cup winners. It is named in honour of Sir Sydney Haldane Olivier (later Lord Olivier), Governor of Jamaica from 1907 to 1913, who donated the shield in 1909 for an inter-scholastic football competition — making it one of the oldest trophies in the Jamaican game.

Powerhouse schools

Names like Jamaica College, Kingston College, St George's College and Clarendon College are woven through the history books, with rivalries that pack stadiums and stop the island each season.
