It ended in defeat, but make no mistake — Haiti's first World Cup in 52 years finished in a blaze of glory. The Caribbean side pushed Morocco all the way before going down 4-2 in a thriller, and they leave North America with their heads held high.
Haiti stunned the African champions early: Lenny Joseph's flick beat Yassine Bounou inside ten minutes (recorded as an own goal). Morocco hit back through Achraf Hakimi, but then came the moment of the group stage — Wilson Isidor rifling an unstoppable strike into the top corner from outside the box, arguably the goal of the tournament so far.
From 2-1 up, Haiti could not hold on. Ismael Saibari levelled before half-time, and Morocco's strength in depth told late on, with Soufiane Rahimi and Yassine finishing it off. Morocco advanced as Group C runners-up behind Brazil.
For every Jamaican who adopted Haiti this summer, it was a tournament to be proud of — a young, diaspora-built team that announced the Caribbean on the world stage. Read their full story in Caribbean at the World Cup.
