South Korea got their World Cup campaign moving with a 2-1 comeback win over the Czech Republic, recovering after Ladislav Krejci had headed the Czechs in front just before the hour.
The lead lasted only eight minutes. Hwang In-beom cut inside from Lee Kang-in's pass and clipped a precise finish inside the post to level, before Oh Hyeon-gyu completed the turnaround late on. Hwang's goal-and-assist display put him in rare company — only the third South Korean to manage both in a World Cup match.
The one frustration for Korean fans was Son Heung-min: the talisman was heavily involved but off-target, sending all but one of his six shots wide. The win, though, is what counts — and Korea showed the resilience that has become their hallmark.
