For the first time, a World Cup spans three countries — the United States, Canada and Mexico — across 16 host cities. For diaspora fans planning to travel, here is the lay of the land.
The tournament opened at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, one of football's most storied grounds and now the first stadium to host matches at three different World Cups. The final will be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, just outside New York — the same ground where Brazil and Morocco drew their opener.
In between, the action runs through Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles (the spectacular SoFi Stadium), Miami, Philadelphia, the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle in the US; Guadalajara and Monterrey in Mexico; and Toronto and Vancouver in Canada — Canada's first time hosting men's World Cup football.
With so many host cities, there is a watch party or a stadium near most of the diaspora. If you are travelling, opt into flight and ticket deal alerts, and find your people through our watch parties.
