Since 1914, the Manning Cup has crowned the champion of Corporate Area schoolboy football — and for more than a century, two names have towered over it: Jamaica College and Kingston College.

Jamaica College are the competition's record holders with 31 titles, a dynasty that began almost with the trophy itself — JC won eight of the first nine editions. Kingston College answered with 16 crowns of their own since first entering and winning in 1949, and with perhaps the most celebrated team in schoolboy history: the unbeaten KC side of 1964, the first to sweep the Manning Cup, Walker Cup and Olivier Shield as triple champions.

When JC and KC meet — with St George's College and Wolmer's completing the old guard — north Kingston grinds to a halt. Stadiums fill, old boys travel from abroad, and futures are made: the fixture has launched countless careers that ran through the Premier League and on to the Reggae Boyz.

The rivalry is the beating heart of a competition that rivals professional football for passion — and the surest reminder that in Jamaica, the schoolboy game is serious business. Read more in our schoolboy football guide.
